What sets us apart from all other stoves?
1. Surface area. Our medium stove has 7,000 square inches of heat radiating surface area of which 4,000 square inches is Aluminum which is found only on a "Made Right Stove". An average sized wood stove has only 2,000 to 2,500 inches of surface area radiating heat. A Papa Bear Made Right Stove has the equivalent surface area of three average stoves.
2. Aluminum fins. Aluminum is one of the best conductors of heat so we use aluminum fins to extract heat that would otherwise go up the chimney. Every engine in the world depends on aluminum fins on the head or the radiator to extract the heat from the motor.
3. Fast heat. The design of our stoves allows them to start putting off heat very quickly, within minutes of starting a fire instead of hours.
4. No insulation. There are no fire bricks in our stoves. Fire bricks are used in kilns to hold the heat in. We double the steel in the lower section of the fire box for years of trouble free use and give a one year complete satisfaction and five year repair or replace guarantee.
5. Heat storage. We have a special tray on either side of the stove for adding any type of brick which stores some of the heat and releases it later. Brick on the outside of the stove is o.k. because it is not preventing the heat from getting out. Brick on the inside of the firebox is blocking the heat from escaping and forces too much heat to go up the chimney . Adding brick is optional, the stove will function perfectly with or without it.
6. Big fire boxes. We have the biggest and tallest fire boxes on the market [ Cub 2.3 cu.ft. mama bear 3.75 cu. ft. papa bear 5 cu.ft. and grizzly bear 6 cu. ft.]which allows you to stack the wood high for a very long burn time. The firebox being 15 inches wide on the mama and papa and 17.5 in. wide on the Grizzly keeps the wood from burning apart and going out. A tall narrow box allows the wood on top to constantly feed the fire as the wood on the bottom is consumed. On a low to medium heat setting it will easily burn all night and into the next day on one load. No more getting up to a cold house or getting out of bed at four or five in the morning to stoke the fire.
7. Heat trap. We use a special chamber on the back to control the exhaust and trap the heat in the top of the stove which allows the aluminum fins to do their job. There is a door near the top of the stove that remains closed until you need to add wood. After adding wood you close the upper door and the exhaust is forced out a port down low where the air is the cleanest. The smoke and gases are constantly being circulated through the fire where much of it is consumed.
8. Survival stove. This stove doubles as a cook stove. The top gets hot enough to cook on.
9. Light weight. Ranging from 120 to 195 pounds they can be easily transported to the basement or a cabin in the woods or even a hunting camp and at only 25-27 inches wide and 28 inches deep they don't take up a lot of room.
10. Efficiency . I have run two papa bears this year (one in the house and one in my shop) on the same amount of wood I used previously in just my house using a different brand of high dollar stove. All cars will get you down the road but some use two or three times the gas as others. All stoves will put off heat but a Made Right Stove will use far less wood.
11. No power needed. We designed this stove to function perfectly without the aid of electricity. Many stoves rely on fans and motors and do not function well without them.
12. Constant, even heat. Our stoves put out a very constant, even heat instead of melting you one minute and freezing you the next.
13. True over night burn. With a load of good wood our stoves will easily last 10-16 hours on a low to medium setting.
14. Made in Montana. Each stove is hand made right here in the Flathead.
15. 3 months between clean outs. Burns wood so completely ashes only need removed about every three months.
16. Full five year guarantee. One year complete satisfaction. Five years repair or replacement.
The stove industry estimate is 1000 feet of floor space heated per every cubic foot of firebox. Of course there are many variables to consider such as construction type, layout of the home, and climate but using that as a rule of thumb our stoves could heat 2000 to 6000 square feet respectfully.
Finally, a stove that every aspect of design is focused on extracting the most heat from the least amount of wood saving hundreds of dollars every year spent on wood.

The stoves are EPA exempt and have not been UL tested. EPA approval and a UL rating does not assure a great heating unit, only an excellent design can do that and I believe we have the best design on the market. Check with your home insurance about restrictions.
As with all wood stoves care must be taken to keep creosote from building up in the flue system. Use a creosote preventing additive and/or physically clean the chimney. If the smoke starts failing to draft up the pipe when there is a fire going then the pipe or the chimney cap probably have creosote buildup and must be cleaned out. I recommend a very open style of cap. the ones with holes tend to clog up too easily.

Here is the stove with the side cover off showing the fins and the brick tray. If you choose to add brick, simply slide the side covers up, pull the bottom out past the frame and then slide the cover down and away. Stack the brick in the tray and replace the cover inserting the top first, slide it up and then line up the bottom and drop it in place. No tools needed.
All of the combined features make this stove a real wood miser. it basically sips on wood instead of guzzling it. Just as all cars burn fuel but get much different fuel economy, all stoves burn wood but whereas some get only 15 miles to the cord a Made Right Stove can get 30, 40, 50 miles to the cord depending on weather conditions.

This is our "Heat Bandit" stove pipe heat reclaimer that works on science proven by possibly every engine in the world. Remove the fins and every engine would seize up in seconds because the heat can't be expelled quickly enough without the fins. Even water cooled engines depend on hundreds of fins on the radiator. Electric motors and electronics depend on aluminum fins to extract the heat that would damage them.
A thermos bottle works because the heat doesn't have a medium to transfer through to escape the bottle. The hot sides of a wood stove act somewhat like the thermos bottle. Steel dissipates heat very slowly if there is no medium such as aluminum to absorb the heat. Hot steel acts like a sponge that is full of water, the sponge won't absorb more water until the water is wrung out. The heat needs to be transferred to a cool medium before more heat can be readily absorbed. Adding aluminum fins to the flue is like opening a door and letting the heat out before it goes up the pipe.
The walls of your stove and pipe get very hot just like your car engine and so they work to a degree but with the aid of aluminum fins they will release more heat . Our stove pipe "Heat Bandit" captures heat that is escaping up your pipe and releases it into your home.
The "Heat Bandit" silently does its job when ever the stove is being used and requires no electricity. It is made of pure aluminum and has no parts to wear out and so should last many lifetimes.
There is no need to take the flue apart to install the Heat Bandit. Simply wrap it around the existing pipe and install two small bolts and nuts and your done. It works on six, seven, or eight inch single wall pipe. Flues larger than six inches use two connecting straps.
You can even stack two 16 inch high Heat Bandits on your pipe one above the other and have 2400 square inches of pure aluminum capturing valuable Btu's before they get away. That is more area than the whole outside of a medium stove and equal to a large stove.
Heat Bandit $69.95 works on a standard 6 inch pipe
extension straps for 7 or 8 inch pipe $2.95 per pair
